If Facebook intend to use cookies from past Facebook sessions to formulate SocialAds, then the ad campaign targeted at me, the user, would follow me everywhere - it wouldn't need to match the content on the page. This wouldn't be a good thing, because the ads would encourage me to part with my cash no matter where I am. I'd rather the ads were relevant to the page in question. SocialAds wouldn't have to be.

In a world with ad campaigns based on social network browsing history, won't people just log-out of their social networks whenever they need to get their work done? Clearing browser history (cookies) would become a regular activity.

Re: Facebook’s Vulnerabilities

Facebook is also vulnerable to a competing ad system that uses profile data to serve ads.

Look for Google to leverage OpenSocial to launch a social network version of Adsense that will sharply devalue what Facebook has to offer.
